The night shift has already written off the new hire on her last probation night, and the chief of surgery has other plans for her.
Who is Harriet, and who wants her gone?
Harriet is the new hire, awkward in scrubs a size too small and one night from the end of her probation. She narrates from inside her own head, and her opening count is a problem list: the head nurse wants her fired, and the chief of surgery keeps looking at her. The one staff name we hear is Vanessa, the nurse the chief gives his orders to, and the chief himself has no name in the dialogue, which suits a man whose title does the work.
My first look at episode 1 came on a free Candy.ai account, and I noticed the setting before the story: a hospital after the operating rooms close, when the place goes quiet and a quiet room becomes a resource.
Inside the on-call room
The chief says the floor goes dead once surgery wraps up, and that it would be a shame to waste the quiet on paperwork. When he hears the verdict on the new girl, he says she is with him tonight. He leads Harriet into the on-call room, which he picks for its quiet. She apologizes for her scrubs, and he tells her they look perfect on her. A reminder arrives that the board wants his note before 7:00, and he tells Vanessa to cancel it and keep the door clear. The door closes, the staff outside insist he would not, and the last thing he says in the episode is "Tell me to stop."
In episode 2, the longer wait is outside
Episode 2 opens with Harriet apologizing for swearing at the chief on her last night. He says he likes it. When she adds that she is not like Vanessa, he answers that this is why he picked her. Out in the hall, the staff trade guesses about how long a training session takes. One says he is only teaching her things, and another says she is not his type. The episode closes on a voice at the door asking whether the doctor is still in there, and an answer that fits the first episode's ending in reverse: "Don't stop."
What the night shift is building toward
That voice at the door is the series' next question. The staff have waited in the hall, the chief's idea of training is hands-on, and Harriet's probation ends in the morning. A jealous rival, a locked door and a deadline make a tight shape for three more episodes. Anything past episode 2 costs tokens, so I leave the answer unspoiled.
Under the Chief on Candy Shorts: score, price and the free pair
No nudity and no sex scene appear in either free episode. The heat is in what gets said and in the lock on the door. Our score is 4, because the paid episodes hand a big slice of their minutes to explicit scenes. The levels are ranked in Is Candy Shorts porn?.
The free pair works like a probation period for the series: unpaid, informative and enough to decide whether to keep it. Episodes 1 and 2 are on the house; tokens enter at episode 3, at 12 apiece, which makes the closing three a 36-token stretch. How a free account works is covered in Is Candy AI Shorts free?. Under the Chief sat among the 15 series with the New badge on October 16, 2026.
Is Under the Chief worth 36 tokens?
It is worth it if you like power and rank as the engine of a story, and if a rival hovering outside the door appeals more than a clear run. Skip it if you want romance over tension. The cast on CandyShorts is generated, and the three leads are fictional adults.
For the same engine in a different building, Under the Boss trades the hospital for an office, and YES MA'AM trades it for a military base.
