Harriet spends her first morning at a London office doing arithmetic: how many people here are better looking than she is, and how unlikely it is that the boss would look twice at her. Within the episode, he has asked to show her around himself.
Episode 1: what happens on Harriet's first day?
I watched it on Candy AI Shorts with the subtitles on, and the first surprise is how much of episode 1 is inner monologue. Harriet arrives sure she does not belong: the people around her look polished, and she rates the boss as out of her league. His PA, meanwhile, steers him toward Thursday's client dinner and hopes it turns into a dinner for two. He is looking elsewhere. Told that the new girl started today and is only 20, he answers that she is pretty, then walks over to greet her. Harriet blurts that she has admired him for a while, corrects herself to the company, and he tells her, "I preferred your first answer." When the PA reminds him of a nine o'clock meeting, he says it can wait. The episode ends on his joke about showing her where the bodies are kept.
Episode 2: the cupboard, the gossip and the PA
Episode 2 splits its ninety seconds between two sides of a door. Outside, the PA talks herself down in real time: he is only showing her the cupboard, she is just a temp, he would not. The corridor gossip, where the name Vic comes up, does not help, and it turns catty. Inside, the boss offers Harriet a company T-shirt and hoodie, the kind worn at conferences and charity days, tells her to help herself and promises to be a gentleman while she tries one on. She comes out asking whether there is a black one, because cameras add weight and white adds more, swears mid-sentence and apologizes for swearing at her boss on day one. He says it suits her. She asks whether he means the white or the swearing. "Both, actually." Her reply is one more word she had just apologized for.
Who is who in the London office?
Harriet is the shy new temp, 20 by the PA's account on her first day, and the chat profile linked at the end of the episode gives her full name, Harriet Seagrave. The boss is addressed only as sir, and his PA, the jealous blonde of the premise, goes without a clear name. Vic is a name heard in the corridor gossip of episode 2. All are invented adults, and the London setting shows in the slang: bloody, bless her, bits like that.
Where is Under the Boss heading?
The setup is a contest: a boss who falls for the temp within days, and an assistant ready to sink the affair by any means. Episode 2 shows her first weapon is denial, since she keeps insisting it is not happening, and the series promises that jealousy turns into action. Those moves belong to episode 3 and beyond. I stopped at the paywall after the free pair, so the plot from there is outside what I watched.
How adult is Under the Boss on Candy AI Shorts?
Our rating is a 4, one step below the top of the ladder that the guide to the levels spells out. The first two episodes stop short of nudity and sex, though the office talk is crude and Harriet swears. On Candy.ai the adult scenes start with the paid episodes, three at 12 tokens each, so 36 tokens finishes the series, and what the free tier covers is quick to read.
Is Under the Boss worth 36 tokens?
If a workplace triangle with a visible rival appeals to you, yes, and the free pair is long enough to find out. Skip it if you want a plot that leaves the office. Under the Chief runs a similar triangle in a hospital, and The New Girl keeps the new-arrival angle on a campus. Browse the rest of Candy Shorts in our series hub.
