The prince admits he stood outside the king's door for an hour and did not tell him. She answers that he has not told him yet, so he is already a traitor and may as well enjoy it. When he asks what she is, she says: your father's wife, your new mother, a daughter of House Vale. Pick one.
She says she needed to know whether he would run, and he did not. Her brother, Lord Vale, has an army two days from the walls, and when it arrives she will open the north gate and the castle will fall. He calls her insane. Then riders appear on the north road, two days early, and she tells him to decide now between his father's side and hers, adding that she can give him what he has long wanted.
Father or queen: the choice the free pair sets up
The first two episodes cover the twist and the ultimatum, which leaves one open question for the paid ones: whose side does he take? The premise calls her a spy, and episode 2 has her confirm it to his face. Her offer to give him what he has wanted is what keeps him in the room. The answer sits in episodes 3 to 5 on Candy Shorts, and I did not watch them.
The prince, the queen and House Vale
The prince narrates and goes unnamed. The queen is unnamed too, but she gives her house, Vale, and her brother, Lord Vale. The old king has no lines in the free pair; he exists as a drunk sleeper and a father to obey. The premise puts both leads at 22, which makes them adults in a fictional court, and the Candy characters label means no creator's twin is involved.
